Material tells stories. In textiles, on canvas, and through video, Rachel Katstaller weaves fragments of the everyday with memories, traces of the past with the here and now. Her work is marked by the magic of imperfection—shapes that don’t quite fit, colors that collide, structures that offer support yet continue to shift. Her practice moves between narrative and abstraction, between order and chaos. Identity—especially the fluid experience of diaspora—is never static, but constantly changing, layering, dissolving, and reassembling.
